with words that don't exist at VOX Lab
In July, I will be directing a week-long in-person workshop of Olivia Powell’s with words that don’t exist up in Hanover, New Hampshire. with words is a devised theatrical experience set partially in VR. The piece explores how we perceive ourselves in stories and relate to the characters and presences who move through them. Olivia and I will be working with an ensemble of wonderful students from Dartmouth College, and the piece will feature original music and sound design by yours truly. For tickets and more information, visit the Hopkins Center event page.
Primetime Theater Festival on Zoom
This year, I have been producing an all new festival called Primetime Theater: a three-week theatrical event featuring brand new plays in the style of classic network sitcoms, presented over Zoom on April 15th 8pm ET, April 22nd 8pm ET, and April 29th 8pm ET. Robert Leverett, Sam West, and I co-founded this festival during the COVID pandemic to give early & mid-career artists a chance to collaborate on funny, fast-paced episodic plays in an abbreviated writers' room setting. Check us out on Broadway World, or go to our website for tickets and info about the festival.
24 Hour Plays: Nationals
I am honored to have been selected as a director for this year’s 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, a festival for emerging artists 25 years of age and younger. The festival will consist of a week of online workshops, panels, and rehearsals, ultimately culminating in a production of the 24 Hour Plays on August 11th, and the release of several new “Viral Monologues” on August 4th. Check out the website for information about tickets and 24 Hour Plays. Hope to see you there!
"MEAT" at VoxFest
After several months away from the physical and virtual stage, I will be directing my first online theater workshop! For three weeks over zoom, I will be working with a cast of incredible actors and designers to develop MEAT by Robert Leverett. MEAT is an imaginative comedy about creating lasting change, and Robert and I are eager to use this piece to explore the boundaries of Zoom theater. The workshop is produced by VoxFest, the digital new play development lab run by Emma Orme, Nicolle Allen, and Matthew Cohn. For more information on MEAT and VoxFest, you can check out the website and event page.
